Alice in Wonderland continues to be re-invented with new films, new artwork, new book editions and collectors seem to be enthralled now as they were over 150 years ago when Alice in Wonderland was first published on 4 July 1865. Many artists have drawn Alice including John Tenniel, Salvador Dali, Emma Mckean, Irene Corey, Arthur Rackham and recently Kerry Darlington (a recent artwork is shown below).
At Stoke Art Pottery we have always liked Alice in Wonderland and how the books and characters have been interpreted in pottery and ceramics. We stock a range of Alice in Wonderland Pottery and Collectables, mainly teapots, that show the wealth of colour and characters including Alice, the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, and the Dormouse.
Our selection includes a number of teapots and designs by talented teapot designer and artist Paul Cardew.
To go with your teapot you most certainly need some Alice in Wonderland Cups and Saucers, and Alice sugarbowl and milk.
This is another of our favourites, a Lewis Carroll Books Teapot this time designed by another great teapot designer Tony Carter of Carters of Suffolk. This teapot features the books of Lewis Carroll which include as well as Alice, The Hunting of the Snark.
